Frog and Toad Together - Arnold Lobel

I have always loved this book.  Still a great read.  This book would be cute for kindergarten students.  Good to teach kindness and about friendship.

Terrible, Awful, Horrible Manners

Terrible, Awful, Horrible Manners! - Beth Bracken

This book is great for kids just going into grade school.  Kindergarten or first grade would probably benefit from it.  Perfect for showing students how you expect them to act,

Alenander and The Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day - Judith Viorst, Ray Cruz

This book is a good read for 3rd graders. I think that it would be good to use when discussing feelings or hard situations.  It teaches kids that not everything goes right everyday.

Grimm's Fairy Tales

The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales - Wilhelm Grimm, Jacob Grimm, Brothers Grimm, Joseph Campbell, Josef Scharl, Margaret Raine Hunt, Padraic Colum, James Stern

This is a book filled with many different stories by The Grimm Brothers.  This would be an excellent book for older students who are looking at myths, folktales, and short stories.

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie - Laura Joffe Numeroff, Felicia Bond

This book is a great children's book.  I think that it is definitely for younger kids, maybe Kindergarten would like this being read in class. This book would be good for teaching cause and effect.

What Teachers Can't Do

What Teachers Can't Do - Douglas Wood, Doug Cushman

This book is a great book for introduction into the school system.  This book would be great to use with kids to break the ice into a new classroom and new teacher.  Perfect for kindergarten and 1st would probably work best for this read.

Green Eggs and Ham

Green Eggs and Ham - Dr. Seuss

Green Eggs and Ham is another classic book that most children are familiar with by elementary school age.  This book could easily be used when discussing likes and dislikes and how you change over time.  I would use this book in my class for 1st and 2nd graders.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - Bill Martin Jr., John Archambault, Lois Ehlert

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a classic book for repetition and rhyming.  Students will feel more confidant with rhyming after reading this book.  Every student who has read this book can sing along with the story in the second reading.  I think this book is good for K-2nd grade.

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman, Caroline Binch

Amazing Grace is an excellently written book.  This book would be perfect for speaking to classes about diversity and differences in families.  I used this myself, in my third grade class and got a lot of feedback from my students.  I will definitely use this in my classes in the future.

The Cat In The Hat

The Cat in the Hat - Dr. Seuss

The Cat In The Hat is a classic book for elementary school students.  I think that this book would be excellent in lower grades that are learning rhyming and repetition such as kindergarten or 1st grade.  When connecting words that sound alike, children can use this book as a resource.

The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree - Shel Silverstein

I absolutely love this book. There are many different aspects to this book and many different ways to be able to use this book in a classroom. One of the ways you could use this book is during a environmental resource week, or a recycling week.  I think that this book would be accepted for most elementary classes, but better written for 1st or 2nd grade.

Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site

Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site - Sherri Duskey Rinker, Tom Lichtenheld

This is a precious book about construction sites.  This book would be very good for younger readers around 1st grade and under.  I think that this book would be a good book for nap time stories in pre-k.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone - J.K. Rowling, Mary GrandPré

Harry Potter is a classis book for the 21st century child.  I think it should definitely only be for older elementary grades or middle school.  This book would be easy for a teacher to read to students to spark imagination befor a creative writing assignment.

Where The Wild Things Are

Where The Wild Things Are - Maurice Sendak

This is a classic story that I think children will always enjoy. This book would be good to use with 1st-3rd graders to spark creative writing topics.  Reading this book before asking students to write topics for writing or before asking students to write given promts might be helpful.

No, David!

No, David! - David Shannon

David Shannon's series of No, David! books are very well written for young children.  The book No, David!, would be fun to read with children in a Kindergarten classroom.  David is mischievous and funny and kids would likely be able to see themselves in him as he does things he isn't supposed to do.

What Teachers Can't Do

What Teachers Can't Do - Douglas Wood, Doug Cushman

What Teachers Can't Do would be a great book to use on the first day of school.  It would be fun for 1st or 2nd grade to read in the first few days of a new school year to break the ice of the classroom.
